“Marilyn Monroe – Monkey Business Theatrical Trailer”

From Marilyn Monroe Video Archives

I’ve actually seen three Marilyn Monroe movies in the last week where Marilyn wasn’t the cutest, gorgeous, sexy woman in the movie. I’m still somewhat in shocked by that, but after seeing I Married a Woman last week and The Unholy Wife a couple nights ago, both with Diana Dors, I now know that Marilyn wasn’t the cutest sexy baby of all-time, at least back then.

Pre-Monkey Business formula that makes these people in the movie turn into children as far as maturity level, Ginger Rogers was as cute as a little girl in this movie and absolutely adorable and hysterical in this movie, the whole movie. And the formula makes her act like a little girl who breaks down and cries over nothing.

Marilyn Monroe never needed some special formula or medicine to act immature and like a little girl. With that face and personality, she always sort of seemed like one anyway. So good thing her character was never on that formula in this movie, because she was very funny and also a pretty good actress and then throw in her natural personality and physical appearance, she probably could’ve played the role of a four-year old girl in the movie, with the body of sex sexy twenty-five year old woman, which she was at this time. Cary Grant is at his funniest in this movie, at least from what I’ve seen of him, which is saying a lot. Perhaps the best comedic actor of all-time.

Ginger Rogers was incredible and not just incredibly adorable, essentially acting like a little girl in this movie. But she was very funny and this movie is essentially about a brilliant scientist played by Cary Grant as Doctor Barnaby Fulton, who creates this new formula that reverses the aging process of people and makes them much younger.

Barnaby decides to try the formula on himself and becomes a nineteen-year old guy as far as personality, energy and maturity level instantly and no longer needs his glasses to use as an example. His wife played by Ginger Rogers finds out about that and decides that the experiment should be used on her. And goes nuts as a result.

This is one of the funniest movies you’ll ever see with Ginger Rogers absolutely adorable and hysterical the whole movie. With an excellent cast around her with Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, Charles Coburn and others. And one of the funniest and cutest movies you’ll ever see with perfectly normal middle-age adults becoming like little children instantly and making this an hysterical movie.

The Newsroom: The Numbers Man

That whole scene sounded like two hard news veterans like Peter Jennings, for all you kids out there, he anchored ABC’s World News before he died ten-years ago, or Tom Brokaw, former anchor of NBC’s Nightly News, versus some young guy or dude, however you want to put it, who graduated college lets say five-years ago who is perfectly qualified and talented to be doing tabloid news or TV writing or producing or something, like working at Hard Copy or something, if that show is still on there. But doesn’t want to be seen as purely a tabloid worker and wants something serious and substantial on his resume or something.

So the young kid, who should be working full-time in tabloid news, or as writer or producer in Hollywood, gets a break at a real hard news cable news show with his tabloid background and has this idea that he can do both at the same time. You know, good luck with that when you’re working for two people, the anchor and executive producer who are only interested in hard news. And could care less about Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, or Paris Hilton, or the latest stupid comments that Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann gave. That would be tabloid political stories in Sarah’s and Michelle’s cases.

The numbers guy, is about exactly that. How the show is doing and who is watching it and how to bring in more people. What stories and topics will bring in the most ratings. And generally speaking since we live in a country of young assholes who see tabloid news as crucially important and don’t think they can live without it and freak out when they miss anything about their favorite celebrities, that is what we get a lot of. The news people male or female, are interested in, well news, in case you were wondering and want ratings too so they can stay on air. But want to cover stories and do them well and appeal to a lot of intelligent viewers, that actually give a damn about important news in this country that actually personally and financially affects them.

So that is what you see in this scene. Two news people, versus the numbers guy, the guy who is simply in drawing the most ratings possible. Versus the news people who simply want to produce the best news show possible that is profitable and allows for them to do the best show that they can. But aren’t simply about the ratings and the money, because they are journalists first. And I just wish we had more real news people on cable right now, because we need more real news. The people who are simply into the tabloid stories will always have those sources to find what they are looking for anyway.

OPC America: Christopher Buckley Interviewing P.J. O’Rourke- Talking About Politics and The Tea Party

Source: OPC America: Christopher Buckley Interviewing P.J. O’Rourke- Discussing The Tea Party

I guess I will talk about the Tea Party, but as P.J. O’Rourke put it, there isn’t any one Tea Party. We are not talking the Republican Party or the Democratic Party or the Libertarian Party or libertarians. The Tea Party is a movement of people primarily from the South and Midwest, with the libertarian wing of the movement, wing of the movement that I somewhat respect, coming from the West. The Matt Kibbe and Dick Army wing of the movement. Their foot soldiers if you want to call them that, tend to be middle class, blue-collar working class people who perhaps are from an America that is disappearing and have decided they are going to fight back and bring that America back.

The foot soldiers of the Tea Party movement might be blue-collar working class folks, but their funders primarily are country club Republican billionaires who back people in these groups that they want to run for office. Without the Koch Brothers and the Tea Party, where is the GOP right now financially? Bankrupt perhaps begging President Obama the man they hate and represents everything they despise, like the New America with so many Americans who weren’t prominent in the 1950s when these traditional Americans who are now the Tea Party were running the country. Perhaps the GOP would be begging President Obama for a taxpayer bailout so their party can stay in business.

The Tea Party with their billionaire funders, are now the financial arm of the GOP. The foot soldiers might still be working class Joe’s and Mary’s, but their leadership are billionaires and represent the old school Republican Party. The good old days when the rich called the shots in the GOP and now have these working Joe’s and Mary’s out there with these rallies trying to convince Americans, especially Americans who look and live like them, that they are part of them and come from the same America.

But where is the Tea Party without the Koch Brothers and other billionaires? At home, pissed off, perhaps at their local tavern throwing their chicken wings and sandwiches at the tube every time President Obama and other Democrats from the same generation get up, give a speech or introduce some new policy. Generally speaking we are not talking about a group of people from normal economic and personal backgrounds who were pissed off over what is going on the country. And then got up and decided to organize their neighbors and community at the local dinner, bar or church. But people with strong political and financial connections, who organized the people through the internet to stand up and put this movement together. And that is the Tea Party movement.

Real Time With Bill Maher: How The GOP Imagines Barack Obama

.

I’m going to try to be careful how I put this and you’ll see, unless you’re blind what I mean by that later on. But go back twenty-years with how hyper-partisans on the Right and the Far-Right viewed Bill Clinton and then compare that today with Barack Obama. And then compare with how America in general views both men then and today and I think you’ll see what I mean in this post. And to take Bill Maher’s point about how the, lets’ say Tea Party, because I think it would be unfair to say the entire GOP is this way, but take Maher’s point that hyper-partisans in the GOP view Barack Obama as someone who they want to see and run against and not the man the rest of the country sees. And you’ll see that he’s right.

But to go back to the 1990s and take Bill Clinton who represents everything that the Traditional Values Coalition, the 1950s wing of the Tea Party hates. Baby Boomer, 1960s, Cultural Revolution, modern man who doesn’t think women’s place is in the home, that they should make that decision for themselves. Pro-equal rights, ran one of if not the most diverse administration’s in American history. As President Clinton put it he had an administration that looked like America. Where not all his members were Anglo-Saxon Northeastern or Southern Protestant men, who were about sixty or over sixty. Bill Clinton represented Modern America and the changing of the guard of the country that the Traditional Values Coalition never wanted to happen.

The same thing with Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004, both men from the same generation and similar backgrounds. But the GOP was successful enough to defeat those two men, because the country at that point was still stupid enough to believe that Gore and Kerry were what they are not and would destroy America and replace it with some type of socialist superstate. 2008 changed all of that with more young adults voting more than perhaps ever and with the Traditional Values Coalition dying off then and even more now six-years later, they don’t have the foot soldiers in place to prevent Modern America from not only happening, but taking power in America.

Now move up today with Barack Obama and lets say how the Far-Right views him. Because I can’t see a true center-right Conservative viewing the President in this manner, even though they do have a tone political and policy disagreements with him. But the Far-Right views Barack as an illegal immigrant from Kenya, even though he has a Hawaii birth certificate. When we are talking about extremists it is not facts that count, especially facts that contradict them, but what they can use to hurt their enemies that others will believe. So lets forget about the fact that Barack’s mother was born in Kansas. The Far-Right probably views her as an illegal immigrant, as well as Socialist from France.

It gets worst, because in the Far-Right extremists mind or lack of one with a gaping whole inside of it that you could fit a plane inside, Barack Obama is not only an illegal immigrant, but he’s from Kenya. He’s not an African-American, which would be bad enough for them, but a Native-African in their mind. But it only gets worst, because Barack is also a Muslim according to them, but I’m not done, because Barack is also a Socialist. You’re mistaken if you think I’m done. Barack is a Muslim-Socialist from Kenya and a Native-African from Kenya who illegally immigrated to America and is now President of the United States.

The man the Far-Right sees is not only President of the United States, but was reelected and reelected overwhelmingly with the most diverse group of voters, including Caucasians, Anglo-Saxons and people from these groups who are men, in American history. People who if the Far-Right were in power, wouldn’t be allowed to vote and that is only assuming they would allow them to stay in America and be free. And perhaps not kept in America living in concentration camps under suspicion of being socialist, Muslim and perhaps just Un-American all around. The person that the Far-Right sees in Barack Obama, is the person the rest and most of America doesn’t see. Because that person simply doesn’t exist.

I believe Diana Dors, or someone like her would be perhaps the last person you I could imagine being a killer, especially a murderer and a woman who murdered multiple people. But that is exactly what she plays in this movie as someone who likes being married to a wealthy man and the money and lifestyle that comes with that. But doesn’t want the responsibility that comes with being a wife or a mother. And finds another man that she is interested in, but not sure she wants to leave her husband and even son for this new man.

Diana Dors plays someone with a checkered past. (to say the least) She was already in prison at one point. Settles down with a another man pre-Paul (played by Rod Steiger) and doesn’t like her first husband at all, even hates him and takes their son with her and meets Paul and they eventually get married.

Paul not being full aware of his new gorgeous baby-face wife’s past history, falls in love with her fairly quickly and integrates her with his Northern California lifestyle. He owns a vineyard and ranch in Napa Valley.

Paul has an elderly mother who is pretty sick that he is responsible for taking care of. Phyllis as Paul’s wife and his mother’s daughter in law has similar responsibilities and she finds her new mother in law to be a pain. (To say the least) The question in this movie, is does Phyllis kill her mother in law intentionally or not by poisoning her and giving her too much medication that is very strong. But she’s already killed two people including a man from her past.

The Unholy Wife is the best Diana Dors movie I’ve seen so far. It is a very entertaining murder mystery that never slows down and Diana looks great in it and as adorable as possible. And because she looks so cute and sweet, she plays the perfect murder suspect, because she would be one of the last people you would expect to murder anyone. But her physical, baby, adorability is just a cover for the plotting murderer inside of her.

Chris Rabideau: ‘The Newsroom (Gun Control)’

The Newsroom (Gun Control) (2012) - Google Search

Source:Chris Rabideau– Jeff Daniels as Newsroom anchorman Will McEvoy.

“This is a segment from Episode 4, Season 1.

Kudos to HBO for this series. If you haven’t watched it, you should.”

From Chris Rabideau

Barack Obama represents everything that the Far-Right in America, hates about America, especially the New America. As much as far-rightists claim to love America and claim to be American Patriots, that’s all bullshit. (To be frank) they love their 1950s, Beaver Cleaver, Ozzie and Harriet, Paul Harvey America, which was this Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, utopia for them, where minorities and women essentially didn’t count. And then someone like Barack Obama not only comes around, but then become President of the United States and that scares the hell out of the Far-Right and Barack becomes their national boogeyman for them.

DC Max: MSNBC’s Hardball With Chris Matthews- P.J. O’Rourke in December, 2000

Attachment-1-193

Source: DC Max

Source: DC Max: Chris Matthews & P.J. O’Rourke on Bill Clinton in 2000

Sounds to me at least that Chris Matthews voted for George W. Bush for president at least once. 2004 I think is pretty much a given the way he was talking about President Bush and seemed unimpressed by Senator John Kerry. And never saw Senator Kerry as someone who could beat President Bush. But in this interview, it sounds to me that he voted for then Governor George W. Bush for president in 2000 as well. Or maybe Matthews is just a fair-weather fan and goes with the winner no matter who the winner is. The ultimate blind-follower and faddist who’s addicted to the crowd and making sure he’s always part of the crowd. Sounds like a personality description for a lot of Americans. So now I like Matthews even less or dislike even more, you know what I mean.

As far as the Baby Boom Generation, I agree with P.J. O’Rourke especially on this. But hey without the Boomers, there wouldn’t be a lot of Gen-Xers and I would probably be somewhat lonely in Generation X, because my parents are from the 1930s, or what Millennial’s call the dinosaur age that they only know about because of what they’ve seen from their video games. But to go back to the Boomers, P.J. is right that they are the most self-absorbed generation at least in recent American history. You don’t get labeled the M Generation otherwise. Me, meaning “government give me what I want after the you tax me to death, bring me back to life and take care of me”.

As far as Bill Clinton, again I’m a liberal New Democrat, but if you look at where the country was when he became President and how he left it and look at his policies as President that he was able to put through, I don’t see unless you just hate the guy how you can’t call him a successful President. Whether that is very good or great, at least good, but I put him down as very good. A B+, that if he had personal discipline, 1998 is a completely different year for him and it is not wasted because of the Monica Lewinski scandal. We’ll never know that obviously, but President Clinton, House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senate Leader Trent Lott were working on a broad bipartisan agenda together for 1998.

But to go back to P.J.’s point about the Boomers, they are the most self-absorbed generation that we know of. Bill Clinton is the President or the King of this generation and everything in his life is about him. Not saying he doesn’t care about anyone else, but everything he does has something to do about him for good and bad and for mostly good. And to a certain extent and not trying to take any responsibility away from Wild Bill as I call him, but perhaps he is a victim of his own generation. And so is Chris Matthews, speaking of self-absorbed selfish assholes, Matthews could be Wild Bill’s Vice President or Prince.

Real Time With Bill Maher: ‘The Hypocrisy of Evangelical Christians’

Attachment-1-1477

Source:Real Time With Bill Maher– Bill Maher, talking about hypocritical Evangelicals.

“When evangelical Christians rejoice at Bin Ladens death, what does that say about their belief system?”

Source:Matthew Ives

I’m going to be careful here, because there some actual Christians who I actually respect, including Protestants and Evangelicals and who are also still living. And when I think of Christianity and Christians as someone who isn’t, I think of these people and I think of their groups. And all of those charities that they run that house the homeless, feed the hungry, some groups even go as far as educating the ignorant so they can get themselves a good job. All things that the so-called Christian-Right and a certain segment of the Tea Party views as socialism or communism.

When I think of Christians, I don’t think of Michele Bachmann, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, all these so-called leaders of the Christian-Right. Who go out of their way of putting people down and hating and saying so many horrible things about people who don’t live exactly the way they do, or look at the world exactly as they do. You know,

But I’m happy to look at at the far right-wing of Christianity people I see as fascists, statists, theocrats, hypocrites, especially when they are preaching against big government. Liars, crooks, assholes, bullshit artists, con-people, all of those labels would fit them perfectly. But calling them Christians would be an insult to Christians.

There are people who are truly religious and actually believe in the religion that they say they follow. Those people I respect, even if I disagree with their religion. Christianity especially as it relates to lifestyle, is simply too conservative for me, but so is Islam.

But I can respect people who truly believe in and follow the values of those religions. But what I can’t respect are people who use a great religion like Christianity to put down other people simply because they disagree with them. Those people are assholes and make Americans look as stupid as we get stereotyped as.

Rick Mercer Report: Canada Explained

.

Take hockey out of Canada, which is what Gary Bettman and the NHL have tried to do for about twenty-years now and would Canadians have any interest in sports? Would there be any point of having indoor sports arenas in Canada at all? I mean they would be down to the CFL and what skiing and perhaps ice skating for their sports entertainment. Canada a small, but charming country right, but with a tone of land that people don’t seem to know what to do with up there on the frozen tundra, where you can hie to the North Pole, from Toronto.

If you look at the Canadian Parliament and the American Congress, they aren’t that much different. Canada has a House and Senate, so does America, we both have bicameral national legislatures, for any of you not keeping score at home. The Senate is the upper chamber in Congress. We don’t just tell people who, but that is the actual truth. But in Canada even though their Senate is their upper chamber in Parliament, they lie to their people, because really most of the power in Parliament resides in the House of Commons. The Canadian Senate is basically a debating society of people either appointed by the Prime Minister, or related to rich Canadian men.

Rick Mercer talking about dumb Canadians. Hey welcome to America! We have more dumb people, than Canada has snow and have a surplus of dumb people like the Middle East has a surplus of sand and dirt. So Canada if you’re looking for anymore dumb people, feel free to come to America or just call us and we’ll give away boat loads of idiots for free. We have idiot conventions we are looking to unload. And since Canada is only a country thirty-six-million people and a continent of land, have plenty of room for a lot more people. And have the room for our idiots.

As far as the no-confidence vote. Again liberal democracy with a federalist system with checks and balances in America’s case. Versus a social democracy with a parliamentary form of government where the chief executive is also a member of the House of Commons. Seems to me at least that one of the requirements of being Prime Minster of Canada is that you also have to be a workaholic, perhaps also a caffeine junky. Because you have to be able to hold two jobs at the same time and perhaps both jobs like in Steve Harper’s case is thousands of miles away. Representing Calgary, Alberta in the House and being Prime Minister in Ottawa.

That wouldn’t work in America and besides over our previous history the last ten-years or so, even though it has been about as rare as the New York Jets playing in the Super Bowl that our President has been popular, the President in this same time period has always been roughly twice as popular as Congress and sometimes even more than that. So before Congress tries to throw the Chief Executive out who was probably elected with fifty-million votes and perhaps reelected with even more than that, they should look out their own jobs and perhaps fire themselves first. Put their lobbyist money where their mouths are.

Canada a country of thirty-six million people and yet it is still interesting to talk about and pay attention to. Perhaps because they sound so much like Americans and have similar interests and lifestyles. Hell, even though they enjoy making fun of America so much to the point it is becoming their second national sport, right behind hockey. And yet they watch all of our news, all our entertainment, all of our sports, perhaps because they have so little of their own in all three areas and get bored. That this tells Americans that there are people just to the North that cares about us.

HBO: The Newsroom: The Greater Fool Broadcast

.

This is my first satire about voter id and that is because this is a very serious issue. Because we literally talking about perhaps the most anti-democratic pieces of legislation that America has ever seen at least going back to the 1960s and 70s. It is not a solution looking for a problem, it is bad policy without a problem to fix at all. To put it frankly, it is about preventing loyal Democrats from voting. People who wouldn’t need id’s for anything, like senior citizens and college students, at least not state-issued id’s.

Neoconservatives, because that is exactly what they are and I’m with the Jeff Daniels character on this one, when they won back a bunch of state legislatures and governorships in 2010, especially in big traditional Democratic states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, discovered they enjoyed power. Actually they love power, they loved power as much as Jim Morrison loved alcohol or John Candy loved food. And also discovered that if they put their policies and laws through, people in those states, especially big Democratic states would vote them out and they would be out of power, the thing they love.

So how do you hold onto power without winning reelection? You stop the opposition from voting, you after their traditional base and make it difficult for them to vote. A better term for voter id would be the Democratic Voter Prevention Act or DVPA and then name the state that currently has a Tea Party government instead of Republican government. To be a Republican, I think you actually have to believe in republicanism. That makes sense to me at least. “I know how we’ll win and get reelected! We’ll stop the other sides’ core base from voting! Gee that’s the ticket!” Unfortunately for them, this is unconstitutional and has been thrown out in states like Pennsylvania.
