Brittany Page: AOC On Elon’s Salute: In This Country, We Hate Nazis!

“Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez discusses the Elon Musk Nazi salute controversy.”

Source:David Pakman Show– you would think U.S. Representative Alexandria O. Cortez (Democratic Socialist, Bronx, New York) would have better things to do with her taxpayer funded time, then to talk about MAGA troller Elon Musk. But that’s me.

From the David Pakman Show

Did Elon Musk do the Nazi salute the other day? Of course he did. It doesn’t take 20/20 vision to see that. I’m not sure you even need to be sane and sober to see and remember that. You just have to be familiar with German history and American history up to the point that you know what Nazism is and who Adolf Hitler was. So I guess that would cancel out a lot of Americans based on this country’s ignorance when it comes to American and German history.

That’s not the point here. This is not my point, anyway. I’m not going to spend 1 of my 2 days this week on The New Democrat, debating whether Elon Musk did the Nazi salute or not. Debating facts is like jumping into an ocean over and over thinking this is the time you won’t get wet. My point is what was Elon Musk’s point in doing this. I’m a German-American myself, seeing the Nazi salute is perhaps more disgusting for me personally and the German community in America and Germany, that for any other ethic group in America, other than perhaps Jewish-Americans for obvious reasons. But that’s not my point either.

My point is why Musk did this. Elon Musk is essentially an oligarch without a country, who is loyal to no one other than himself and his company. If you are familiar with the film The Terminal from 2004… Musk is like the Viktor Navorksi character, but with a helluva lot more money. And because of this and the fact that Musk doesn’t care about anyone else, other then himself and his company, that he’s basically just the right-wing version of the political hipster (which is what MAGA Bros are) he’s a professional troller who just pisses off people intentionally for the pure pleasure of doing that and to get them to freak out about it, post what he did and said and get the left-wing whether it’s Representative Alexandria O. Cortez, or Brittany Page, to spend part of their days talking about how horrible and disgusting Elon Musk or whoever their current MAGA target is.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, there was talk about how easy it was to bait Donald Trump. That every time someone would criticize him about anything from his orange skin spray, to his diet, how much debt he’s in, how mush money he’s lost since he was President the 1st time, etc, that DJT would automatically take the bait like a fish who hasn’t eaten in days. If you are familiar with the debate he had with Vice President Kamala Harris, she baited him over and over and he fell for it over and over in that debate, completely throwing him off his game and making the whole debate about what people don’t like about him, even people who voted for him.

But guess what, Donald Trump is not the only political fish on a suicide mission, or who who looks like a political fish on a suicide mission. Every time whether it’s either Elon Musk or someone other right-wing, MAGA troller, does something to piss off this minority group or that one, you have some left-wing U.S. Representative, whether it’s Alex Cortez or some other wannabe Squad member, or some social media commentator or blogger take time from their day talking about how disgusting it was for the MAGA troller of the day to do or say what they did. And doing exactly what that MAGA trollers wants them to do which is give them attention, get them more followers, and raise money for them.

As my colleague Ederik Schneider said about mainstream media and the opposition as far as how they react to everything bad that Donald Trump says and does last week on The New Democrat:

“So what Mr. Trump does is knowing that he has a political base that sees him as God and therefor would never fault him for anything, regardless of the facts and evidence him and the stronger the facts and evidence against him, the more loyal MAGA to him… he simply takes advantage of that and lies his head off whenever he thinks it would benefit him. Knowing that the Democrats and the mainstream media will freak out about it. Which keeps him in the news and drives up his fundraising numbers.

So my advice for Democrats and the mainstream media, is not look like a school of fish on an underwater suicide mission. When Donald Trump says something crazy like we should invade a NATO ally, whether it’s Greenland or anyone else, don’t take the bait and ignore him. It’s when he does something crazy, irresponsible, illegal, and constitutional things, that’s when the Democrats and the mainstream media need to be prepared to act.”

From The New Democrat

Whether you are 1 of the broadcast network news divisions like NBC News, or from 1 of the major national newspapers like The Washington Post or The New York Times, or a left-wing Democrat… “you don’t have to act like a school of fish on a suicide mission” every time Donald Trump or 1 of his MAGA trollers does or says something that’s disgusting. Every time they react to MAGA trolling, MAGA gains more followers and raises money off of how the opposition reacts to him. It’s what Donald Trump and his administration does and what they try to do the next 4 years, especially the 1st 2, that good Americans of all backgrounds need to be concerned with. Not what he and his trollers say.

The Bulwark: BOMBSHELL! GOP Allegedly Won’t Call J6 Witness Because They SEXTED Her!

“Sam Stein and Tim Miller discuss the new January 6th select committee’s reason for not calling on former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson is due to concerns over inappropriate texts messages from lawmakers.”

Source:The Bulwark’s Sam Stein & Tim Miller talking about the MAGA House that Mike Johnson is the Speaker of.

From The Bulwark

The only thing that I disagree with The Bulwark on here, is “GOP” in the title of their video. What is the GOP? The Grand Ole Party. What’s grand about having a party of right-wing, Anthony Weiner’s?

If you worked in Las Vegas, if you are a pornster in San Fernando, Los Angeles, being a political pornster, would be very grand. You would never have to worry about losing reelection in Las Vegas or San Fernando, if you were a member of the Las Vegas City Council, or the Los Angeles City Council, representing San Fernando Valley, even in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing 1 of those 2 communities.

Look, this is not the GOP. This is not the party of constitutional conservatives and conservative libertarians. Most of those folks are probably not even registered Republicans anymore, because they don’t think they have a home in the “Republican Party” today. The Adam Kinzinger’s, the Joe Walsh’s, the Liz Cheney’s, etc.

This is the MAGA Party. This is Donald Trump’s own political, reality TV, political show, of political gangsters, who simply try to take apart good people like Cassidy Hutchinson, for doing their jobs and being honest and having the balls to disagree with Donald Trump or any of his allies. Nothing more. But perhaps a lot less.

The Onion: Donald Trump Claims He Can Overrule Constitution With Executive Order Because Of Little-Known ‘No One Will Stop Me’ Loophole

“Saying his latest executive order was legal due to an “underutilized but totally feasible workaround,” President Trump claimed Tuesday that he could overrule the U.S. Constitution by means of the relatively obscure “no one will stop me” loophole. “My critics say a constitutional amendment or at least an act of Congress is necessary to end birthright citizenship, but what they don’t realize is that a seldom-evoked administrative guideline ensures I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, because zero people will stand in my way,” said Trump, adding that the largely unheard-of clause allows him to circumvent normal legal proceedings because it’s not like anyone in any branch of government remains effective enough to prevent him from doing so. “Though few modern presidents have made use of it, this loophole has always given the nation’s chief executive unilateral power over the Constitution. Its provisions dictate that the president can sidestep any checks and balances on his power once he has abused his authority so many times that no one can keep track anymore.” Trump added that while his opponents may try to challenge his executive order in court, the loophole also states that by then he will have achieved his immediate political aims.”

Source:The Onion with a look at President Donald J. Trump (MAGA, Florida) from back in 2018.

From The Onion

“The controversial new ad from the Trump campaign openly promises the murder of various political rivals, celebrities, and even a handful of ordinary citizens.”

Source:The Onion– American voters can never argue that they never had an alternative to Donald J. Trump.

From The Onion

Just for the record: The New Democrat doesn’t actually take The Onion seriously as a news organization. And some might say that The Onion is just as accurate as Fox News or Newsmax, perhaps even more accurate than One America News. And there might be some truth to that. But being more accurate than FNC, Newsmax, and OWN, even all combined, is like like serving the best food in the Federal penal system. Or having the fastest turtle in a turtle race. Owning the only Ford Pinto that didn’t blow up when you opened the trunk, or changed the rear license plate. Is any of those things even worth mentioning?

But for anyone who is offended by the fact that TND doesn’t automatically take The Onion seriously as a news organization… try drinking something besides alcohol. Your kidneys and what’s left of your brain will thank you. Or whatever you are doing to escape from reality.

But I have to hand it to The Onion when they get something that’s almost completely right. The story that I guess they reposted on their Facebook page, is originally from 2018. So go up 6 years and some change and what is President Donald Trump trying to do now? He thinks he can either amend or just eliminate a constitutional amendment, simply with his pen. But according To The Onion:

“Donald Trump Claims He Can Overrule Constitution With Executive Order Because Of Little-Known ‘No One Will Stop Me’ Loophole”.

Think about that, that’s not far off on The Onion’s part. President Trump probably believes he’s unstoppable now. He’s a lameduck President, he doesn’t have to worry about what the voters think anymore. The U.S. Supreme Court just essentially gave absolute presidential immunity when it comes to any criminal acts he may have created while he was President the 1st time, along with the voters making him President again. He’s probably literally in The White House right now thinking there’s no one who can stop him. I think he’s in for a very rude awakening on that, but we will see.

But if I wanted to be an American dictator and I never wanted to face accountability from anyone, about anything, ever again, and I have the power that the U.S. Supreme Court and the voters just gave me, why not try to write out constitutional amendments that I don’t like unilaterally? And not just the 14 Amendment Why not write out 22nd Amendment through executive order as well, so I would never even have to run for President again and just stay in office the rest of my life?

Inside Edition: Donald Trump Demands Apology From Bishop Who Prayed For ‘Mercy’

Source:The New Democrat

“Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde used her time in the pulpit during the National Cathedral prayer service to ask for mercy for the marginalized from the 47th President. She mentioned members of the LGBTQ+ community, the poor, and immigrants. Bishop Budde reminded those in attendance of the biblical command to welcome strangers. The President blasted the Bishop on his social media network, Truth Social, writing in part, “She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”

Source:Inside Edition inside the National Cathedral in Washington. (Pun intended)

From Inside Edition

From the President of the United States Donald J. Trump:

“The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”

From Donald J. Trump

And from my colleague Kire Schneider wrote about this earlier today:

“If your daily diet consists of nothing but meth, heroin, alcohol, pot, and red bull… first of all, your daily diet would only have days to live because that would kill you pretty quickly. But if you have Superman’s immune system or something and you can do that, then maybe you are so far out in outer space (also known as MAGA Land) that you are crazy, dumb, or high enough (perhaps all those things) to believe that the modern Republican Party is the party of law & order, family values, free speech, freedom of religion, and the U.S. Constitution.

And there are 77 million people who did vote for Donald Trump. So one might think based on what I just said that the we have a meth heads, pot heads, alcoholics, etc, perhaps escaped mental patients who never got caught and are still living freely in society…

From The New Democrat

Just for the record: you are going to hear a lot of “this is who you voted for”, (or something to that affect) from The New Democrat in 2025. That message will be for Independents, center-right Republicans, and blue-collar Democrats, who voted for Donald Trump for President in 2025, but don’t like him now, perhaps didn’t like him in 2024, and don’t like the job that he’s doing. Just as a reminder that they were warned about who this guy is and what he would do as President and voted for him anyway.

Feeling sorry for Trump voters, is like feeling sorry for drug addicts or alcoholics. It’s not like they can argue that they weren’t given fair warning about what life would be like if they got into alcohol, heroin, cocaine, in a big way. (Unless they were drunk or high at the time that they were warned) They were, but they made their choices anyway. Which is many ways is what democracy is about: we make choices in who we want representing us and then we have to live with them.

As far as President Trump demanding an apology from Bishop Budde: this is coming from a man who claims to be a Christian, but has never felt sorry for anything that he’s ever done in his entire life. Who routinely threatens violence, jail, or prosecution, against people for simply disagreeing with him. Who now takes that even a step further by demanding an apology from a Bishop, because she voiced her concern for the public welfare of people who are very vulnerable now that Mr. Trump is President again and expressed those concerns to him directly and in person.

Jesse Dollemore: REPUBLICAN WANTS TO DEPORT BISHOP For Asking Donald Trump to be Merciful to Immigrants!!!

Source:The New Democrat

“Jesse talks about Bishop Mariann Budde’s pleas for mercy and compassion to Donald Trump during a national prayer service at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The bishop asked Trump to be loving and kind to vulnerable people in the country. Her unifying message was met with scorn and anger by virtually every member of the Trump family in attendance.”

Source:Jesse Dollemore talking about President Donald J. Trump’s (MAGA, Florida) really bad day at church.

From Jesse Dollemore

From what conservative podcaster/blogger Joe Walsh said about this yesterday:

“It should have been obvious awhile ago, but Trump’s Republican Party doesn’t believe in free speech.”

From Joe Walsh

From what U.S. Representative Mike Collins said about this yesterday:

“The person giving this sermon should be added to the deportation list.”

From Representative Mike Collins

If your daily diet consists of nothing but meth, heroin, alcohol, pot, and red bull… first of all, your daily diet would only have days to live because that would kill you pretty quickly.

So one might think based on what I just said that the we have a meth heads, pot heads, alcoholics, etc, perhaps escaped mental patients who never got caught and are still living freely in society.

But for the rest of us who still believe in reason, intelligence, and facts, even the some of Donald Trump’s voters who simply voted for him to make the cost of living more affordable in America, knowing about all his personal baggage and who believe that he really is a bad guy, but our form of government would be able to contain him, all these people know better.

You don’t make the statement that Representative Collins did, if you believe in free speech and freedom of religion, and the U.S. Constitution.

You don’t believe in the rule of law and law & order, if you either pardoned the Jan 6. insurrectionists, who killed 5 police officers and injured 140 others, or you support those pardons. Or you have nothing to say about them other than: “This was President Trump’s decision”, which. basically what Speaker Mike Johnson said about them.

And you don’t believe in family values if you support taking away the American citizenship of millions of Americans, simply because their parents entered the country illegally. You also don’t believe in the Constitution, if you believe the President of the United States can throw out the 14th Amendment through executive order, or at least can amend 1 of our constitutional amendments, simply through executive order.

Joe Walsh probably knows this as well as me: the modern Republican Party (which is the Republican Party in name only) is no longer a conservative party. They haven’t been at least since President George W. Bush left The White House in January, 2009. This party nominating Donald Trump for President in 2016, just made all of that obvious.

We don’t have a conservative party anymore. We have two parties that have Conservatives, as well as Liberals in it. The party in power today is a right-wing, nationalistic, political cult, that’s in the business to protect and promote Donald Trump and his allies. Nothing more. But perhaps a lot less.

NBC News: Senators Receive Affidavit Containing New Allegations Against Pete Hegseth

Source:The New Democrat

“Senators have received an affidavit from the former sister-in-law of Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s nominee to serve as secretary of defense, that says his behavior caused his second wife to fear for her safety. NBC News’ Julie Tsirkin reports from Capitol Hill as Hegseth and his attorney deny the allegations as he awaits Senate confirmation.”

NBC News_ Senators Receive Affidavit Containing New Allegations Against Pete HegsethSource:NBC News & many others covering Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense.

From NBC News

From what my colleague Kire Schneider wrote last week about Pete Hegseth’s allegations of being (let’s say) an alcoholic and how Senator Markwayne Mullin produced his very own puppet show in defense of Pete Hegseth:

“I’m not a religious man, (I guess that comes from being Agnostic) so I don’t use religious expressions very often. But what Senator Mullin did today, was essentially admit that’s he’s a puppet of Donald Trump and acknowledge that Pete Hegseth is not just a hardcore drinker, or at the very least has been 1 in the past, but he’s had real problems with women in the past.

But then Senator Mullin takes it a step further by basically saying:

“Who here isn’t a hardcore drinker and has had issues with women in the past, cheated on their wives, etc…” He’s basically saying that it’s OK to be a womanizer and perhaps even women beater, and maybe even an alcoholic, because they’re all done those those things. Because it’s not like people become Secretary of Defense to relax or go on vacation. It’s a stressful job and guys need to be guys and need to relax…

From The New Democrat

From what my colleague Derik Schneider wrote past week about Pete Hegseth’s allegations of being (let’s say) an alcoholic and how Senator Markwayne Mullin produced his very own puppet show in defense of Pete Hegseth:

“My 1st point here and this is where I sort of agree with David Pakman: Senator Markwayne Mullin doesn’t have any “receipts” to bring. He’s just pulling a “we all do it” play and basically saying that Pete Hegseth shouldn’t be held to any higher standard than some Joe Jones on the street, who lives a life that’s completely obscure, who just goes about his own business everyday. That’s basically how Senator Mullin sees the Secretary of Defense, as well as U.S. Senators: they’re just a bunch of Joe and Sally Jones’s on the street and therefor shouldn’t be treated as important people, held to higher standards. Or, that’s what he wants the mainstream media to think.

Had Kamala Harris won the election and she’s appointing the new Secretary of Defense and that person has a history of heavy alcohol use, how much would you want to be bet me that Senator Mullin would be acting like the Secretary of Defense is 1 of the most responsible and powerful positions in the whole world. And therefor we must hold that person to the highest standards possible.

But Donald Trump won and according to Senator Mullin, what The Donald wants, is what The Donald gets. This Republican Congress should just be there to protect his back. Not do their jobs as members of Congress.

My 2nd and final point here is, Senator Mullin is just playing partisan politics and serving as another 1 of Donald J. Trump’s political pets. Nothing more, or less.”

From The New Democrat

I’m not going to say here that some different Republican senator is going to produce their own puppet show in defense of Pete Hegseth over the allegations that he was abusive to his ex-wife and perhaps his ex-sister-in-law as well. And some new Republican senator might say in public:

“Can you name me a U.S. Senator who doesn’t beat his wife and sister-in-law? We all do it. So why should we hold Pete Hegseth, who’s only about to be the next Secretary of Defense, to a higher standard then some blue-collar Joe, who gets drunk after work and goes home and beats his wife, as well as sister-in-law, if she’s available?”

But if you saw Senator Markwayne Mullin’s defense of Pete Hegseth last week, where he essentially accused multiple U.S. Senators of being active alcoholics, with no names, let alone evidence, you might have been already blown away and shocked and awed just by that.

If you privately polled the Senate Republican Conference, or slipped some truth serum in their favorite coffee or favorite alcohol beverage, (according to Senator Mullin) or they were under oath, they would privately tell you that Pete Hegseth has no business serving as a Defense Department intern, let alone as Secretary of Defense. That he’s better qualified attending Alcoholic Anonymous meetings, and attending anger management meetings, then being responsible for America’s national security. But President Trump wants Hegseth, so that’s who he gets, according to a sold majority of the Senate Republican Conference. That’s my guess.

So the question is are there 5-10 Republican senators who care enough about the nation’s security, who have female relatives that they care about, perhaps have a wife themselves, who are at the very least willing to put the Hegseth nomination on hold until we get to the bottom of the allegations about his alleged alcoholism and physical mistreatment of his wife. I haven’t seen any evidence of that yet. But this FBI affidavit might lead to something.

David Pakman: Donald Trump PANICS Over Tiny Crowd, Moves Inauguration Indoors

Source:The New Democrat

“Panicking over an inevitable tiny inauguration crowd, Donald Trump moves his inauguration indoors and claims it’s due to the weather.”

Source:David Pakman Show talking about President Donald J. Trump’s (MAGA, Florida) small crowd size.

From the David Pakman Show

As my colleague Kire Schneider wrote on Friday, which feels like 4 days ago:

“I just want to make 1 point about something that Ben Meiselas said here and then I’ll get into Donald Trump’s looming, small crowd size, that of course he’ll probably lie about as soon as gets to The White House after his inaugural.

Ben Meiselas seemed to suggest that Donald Trump was expressing some concern about how the arctic cold weather could affect his supporters at his inaugural in Washington this Monday, which is why this event will be moved indoors in the Capitol. The problem with that is that he Donald Trump had an outdoor rally in Las Vegas back in June where it was like 110 degrees that day and this is what he said about that:

“We need every voter. I don’t care about you, I just want your vote…

From The New Democrat

I think David Pakman is damn right here. This was all about Donald Trump freaking out about his outdoor inaugural being probably well under 100,000 people. (Which in a city like Washington that has probably 1.5 million people inside the city everyday, is a small crowd, for an inaugural) And I guess he didn’t want to spend he first few days of his presidency lying about how big his inaugural crowd was.

President Trump’s small crowd yesterday would also explain his low-energy, lackluster speech yesterday, where he sounded more like a hostile witness on the witness stand, just trying to get through his testimony. Instead of a man who was just sworn in as President of the United States for the 2nd time in 8 years. You would think someone would be ecstatic about that.

But Donald Trump is not a small time player. He plays to his crowd and when it isn’t very large (like at an indoor presidential inaugural) his energy and enthusiasm tends to be lacking.

The Bulwark: Inauguration Reaction: Donald Trump’s Very Bad & Un-American Inauguration Speech

Source:The New Democrat

“Join Tim, Sam and Sonny as they breakdown Trump’s very weird and bad inauguration address — and what comes next.”

Source:The Bulwark talking about President Donald J. Trumo’s (MAGA, Florida) 2nd inaugural address.

From The Bulwark

As my colleague Erik Schneider wrote on The New Democrat today:

“I’ll get to what Chris Cilliza said later. But my first reaction to President Trump’s speech is that it was a nomination convention speech designed to get his party and Independents behind him and to blame everything that is wrong with America on the Democrats. President Trump’s inaugural address reminds me of Richard Nixon’s 1968 Republican National Convention speech. And here is some of what Mr. Nixon told that Miami audience back then…

From The New Democrat

As my colleague Ederik Schneider wrote about the “mainstream media” freaking out every time Donald Trump says or does something that they would call “Un-American”:

“You could also argue that Donald Trump is a smart enough man (or smart enough politician, at least) to know that Americans are used to being lied to by their politicians. Especially their politicians, even their President’s and that a lot of them never pay a price for it.

So what Mr.

But where I agree with The Bulwark is here is as Sam Stein said very early in this video: this was a very bad and unmemorable speech. And I think the TV ratings of it will reflect that later this week.

There was nothing memorable about this speech. The man didn’t even swear an oath on The Bible. So I guess he can’t be accused of swearing an oath to The Bible when he does something unconstitutional, or even breaks the law again, because he could literally say he never swore an oath to either The Bible or the Constitution.

If you want something that’s memorable about this event, (which is really what it was) the first President of the United States who neither believes in The Bible or the Constitution. So he made history again, but for the wrong reasons.

Chris Cillizza: My 5 BIG takeaways From Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech

Source:The New Democrat

“Donald Trump is president again. I watched his entire speech so you don’t have to!”

Source:Chris Cillizza with a look at President Donald J. Trump’s (MAGA, Florida) 2025 inaugural address.

From Chris Cillizza

A portion of President Trump’s 2nd inaugural address:

“The Golden Age of America begins right now.

From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world. We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer. During every single day of the Trump administration, I will very simply put America first. Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The vicious, violent and unfair weaponization of the Justice Department and our government will end. And our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous and free.

America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before. I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success, a tide of change is sweeping the country, sunlight is pouring over the entire world, and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before.

But first, we must be honest about the challenges we face. While they are plentiful, they will be annihilated by this great momentum that the world is now witnessing in the United States of America.

As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust. For many years, a radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens, while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.

We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home, while at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad. It fails to protect our magnificent, law-abiding American citizens, but provide sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals, many from prisons and mental institutions that have illegally entered our country from all over the world.

We have a government that has given unlimited funding to the defence of foreign borders, but refuses to defend American borders or more importantly, its own people. Our country can no longer deliver basic services in times of emergency, as recently shown by the wonderful people of North Carolina, been treated so badly. And other states who are still suffering from a hurricane that took place many months ago.

Or more recently in Los Angeles, where we are watching fires still tragically burn from weeks ago without even a token of defence. They’re raging through the houses and communities, even affecting some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in our country, some of whom are sitting here right now. They don’t have a home any longer. That’s interesting, but we can’t let this happen. Everyone is unable to do anything about it. That’s going to change.

We have a public health system that does not deliver in times of disaster, yet more money is spent on it than any country anywhere in the world. And we have an education system that teaches our children to be ashamed of themselves, in many cases to hate our country despite the love that we try so desperately to provide to them. All of this will change starting today, and it will change very quickly…

I’ll get to what Chris Cilliza said later. Nixon told that Miami audience back then:

“The choice we make in 1968 will determine not only the future of America but the future of peace and freedom in the world for the last third of the Twentieth Century.

And the question that we answer tonight: can America meet this great challenge?

For a few moments, let us look at America, let us listen to America to find the answer to that question.

As we look at America, we see cities enveloped in smoke and flame.

We hear sirens in the night.

We see Americans dying on distant battlefields abroad.

We see Americans hating each other; fighting each other; killing each other at home.

And as we see and hear these things, millions of Americans cry out in anguish.

Did we come all this way for this?

Did American boys die in Normandy, and Korea, and in Valley Forge for this?

Listen to the answer to those questions…

When the strongest nation in the world can be tied down for four years in a war in Vietnam with no end in sight;

When the richest nation in the world can’t manage its own economy;

When the nation with the greatest tradition of the rule of law is plagued by unprecedented lawlessness;

When a nation that has been known for a century for equality of opportunity is tom by unprecedented racial violence;

And when the President of the United States cannot travel abroad or to any major city at home without fear of a hostile demonstration—then it’s time for new leadership for the United States of America.

My fellow Americans, tonight I accept the challenge and the commitment to provide that new leadership for America…

From the Presidency

I would love to say that I know that Donald J. Trump knows the difference between a convention speech and an inaugural address. If for no other reason he’s given 3 convention nomination speeches and 2 inaugural addresses. But the fact is I don’t know that and if you look at his convention speeches and his inaugural address (to paraphrase Chris Cillizza) they’re basically the same speeches:

“The Democrats are ruining America. Immigration and multiculturalism is destroying America. Time for the real Americans to fight back and take back America. And starts on day 1 by making me President and I’ll make America Great Again.”

Of course what I just said there is a paraphrase. And as Cillizza said there is no Trump 2.0. There’s 1 Donald J. Trump. (Thank God. Otherwise God would have to really hate America to create another 1) All this talk about Donald Trump being a great dealmaker.. give him exactly what he wants, or there is no deal. That’s his “art of the deal”. He’s doesn’t know how to play well with others, especially people who tend to disagree with him. And that style of government and leadership and governing (tends to not work in Washington) and in our form of government where we have no one leader.

America has 1 person at the top, but even the President of the United States has real limits on what they can do. As Mr. Trump should’ve learned the 1st time when he was President. And the more he tries to fight our system of government and Constitution, the more it will push back against him and the less popular he’ll be, and the more his party will pay the price for that.

Look, I would be the first person to be able to say: “Donald Trump’s presidency will be successful and America will be successful if he just does this…” And this is something that I would love to be wrong about as someone who really does love America. But the Donald Trump we’re seeing in 2025, is the DJT from 2024, and 2016, and 2017. He’s just 8 years older now from 2017. He’s not as quick, not as sharp, definitely not as strong and healthy. But the character and his style of governing, his style of politician is still the same. So I’m not expecting anything different from him in his 2nd term. And we’ll see what the voters think about it in 2025 and 2026.

Kasie Hunt: New Details About Secret, Emotional Joe Biden-Chuck Schumer Meeting

Source:The New Democrat

“In an interview with CNN’s Kasie Hunt, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) discusses a new report in the New York Times about Chuck Schumer’s meeting with President Joe Biden after Biden’s disastrous performance at the CNN presidential debate.”

Source:CNN reporting on the meeting between then Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (Democrat, New York) & President Joe Biden (Democrat, Delaware)

From CNN

President Biden this week has been saying, or it’s getting leaked by his own people, that he’s convinced that had he stayed in the 2024 election race, he would’ve beaten Donald Trump. This is some of what Newsweek has on that story:

“President Joe Biden is facing backlash just before leaving office after insisting that he “would have beaten” incoming President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Biden withdrew as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee in July after weeks of scrutiny and intense pressure following a disastrous televised debate with Trump during the previous month.

Some Democrats have been second-guessing the decision to replace Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris, who went on to lose every swing state to Trump, while others have suggested that the incumbent president would have fared worse.

During a news conference at the White House on Friday, a reporter asked Biden if he regretted his “decision to run for reelection” or thought that the candidate switch-up “made it easier” for Trump to win.

“I don’t think so,” Biden responded. “I think I would have beaten Trump, could have beaten Trump. And I think Kamala could have beaten Trump and would have beaten Trump. It wasn’t about … I thought it was important to unify the party.”

“When the party was worried about whether or not I was gonna be able to move, even though I thought I could win again, I thought it was better to unify the party,” he added.

Biden made similar remarks in an interview published by USA Today on Wednesday, saying “yes” when asked whether he thought he would have defeated Trump for a second time, although he also said he did not “know” if he would have had the energy to finish a second term…

From Newsweek

From Business Inside talking about President Biden’s reelection chances last year:

“President Joe Biden already had a narrow path to reelection before his disastrous debate.
But if the bottom drops out, Democrats could be fighting to defend states like New Mexico or Virginia.
At that point, former President Donald Trump’s victory would be almost a foregone conclusion.

President Joe Biden’s already narrow path to reelection is getting even harder to navigate.

Biden’s best-case scenario before last week’s disastrous debate likely required him to run the table in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, while holding on to Nebraska’s Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District. Former President Donald Trump, as the FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver pointed out, had much more flexibility in reaching 270 electoral votes and could even reach even higher.

Four years ago, Biden had the luxury of deciding whether to base his campaign on the Upper Midwest or bet on Sun Belt states like Arizona and Georgia, which hadn’t gone for Democrats in decades. Trump has held a steady lead in both states, according to RealClearPolitics’ polling averages.

Biden’s underdog status can get much worse. In its latest update on Wednesday, Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved Michigan and Minnesota closer to Trump. As Kyle Kondik, the managing editor of Crystal Ball, said, this isn’t rock bottom.

“It does seem like from the polling that Biden has taken a small hit, but he needed to be catching up as opposed to falling back,” Kondik told Business Insider.

The Crystal Ball moved Michigan from “Lean Democratic” to “Toss Up” and Minnesota from “Likely Democratic” to “Lean Democratic.” Under the University of Virginia Center for Politics’ projections, there are five true toss-up states: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada.

f Biden continues to decline, Virginia, New Mexico, and Maine (statewide) could all come into play.

A Republican hasn’t carried Virginia or New Mexico in 20 years. Maine, which, like Nebraska, awards only two of its Electoral College votes to the statewide popular-vote winner, hasn’t crowned a Republican as a winner since then-Vice President George H. W. Bush in 1988.

“There’s the possibility that maybe Trump is able to win the popular vote that is a roughly 5-point improvement from 2020. And if that sort of thing happens, you would expect Trump to win the states where Biden won in 2020 but did worse than the national popular vote,” Kondik said. “That is also the situation where you would start to see a Minnesota or a New Hampshire or maybe even a Virginia or Maine be closer, certainly like they were in 2016 and certainly even closer than that.”

A post-debate poll in New Hampshire showed the race there was too close to call. A Saint Anselm College poll found Trump leading Biden 44% to 42%. The independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is at 4% in the state. Biden won the Granite State by just over 7 points four years ago.”

From Business Insider

If anyone is still awake, or hasn’t found a bridge to jump off of after reading all this information: you read what I think about all of this as well.

My whole point here is that President Biden still thinks that he could’ve won reelection in 2024. And perhaps now regrets dropping out of the race. But before the June debate last year, it already looked bad for the President. He was on pace to lose every swing state. And then the debate happens and now we’re hearing and seeing things that suggest that now he could lose Virginia, Minnesota, and New Mexico. Those states were probably locks for the President before the debate. And to be completely fair:

Vice President Kamala Harris:

Only won New Jersey by by 6 points (which is a close race considering how blue NJ is)

Only won Virginia by 5 points (which is a blue state at the state level)

Only won Minnesota by 4 points (which is a very blue state at the state level)

And only won New Mexico by 6 points (which is a very blue state at the state level)

But the more important point here is that President Biden would’ve lost all those blue states, to go along with all the swing states, had he not had dropped out of the election, because it was obvious by then that he simply didn’t have the physical and mental fitness to run for President full-time, to go along with being the sitting President and his numbers would’ve continued to drop as a result.

From what I’ve heard and CNN reported on this back in July as well, is that it’s his own pollsters telling President Biden that he was in danger of losing these blue states, to go along with all the swing states, which is what convinced him that he no longer had a path to reelection and that’s why he dropped out back in July. How much do you want to bet that Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, being the brilliant political strategist and legislature that he is, already had all this information as well and shared that with President Biden to try to get him to drop out of the 2024 election?
